Day 2: route Hwy 1251 - 1091- 101 - 1162 - 1243 - 1168
We had hit 30min of rain the day before on hwy 1150, today we awoke to a bleak dark rainy sky in Pha Yao, I checked the internet for the weather radar over the Nan Area thinking i would have to make a route change to avoid the miserable weather that seemed to be blowing nor east.
The radar showed the Nan area to be clear of cloud, I was a little apprehensive to head in the direction of Nan to say the least, but viewing the tracked rain clouds on radar has always been a great indicator of rainfall for me before. I wasn't to be disappointed this time either, 20 min along hwy 1251 we where out of the drizzle and had perfect riding weather from here on out.

We had a great days riding the highlights of the riding being hwy 1091, hwy 1162 and the grand finally of the day was 1168 leading us into Nan.

luck out again, Nan was hosting the Thailand Dragon Boat championships and was full of day and night festivities

Day3: Route Hwy 1169 - 1257 - 1081 - 1256 - 1080 - 1148 - 1092 - 1091
We where on the road by 9am feeling refreshed after some great masseurs wrestled out our riding aches the night before.
Today was a big day 360km and most of the time was spent riding brilliant surfaced mountain range and twisting roads. I don't think the riding in Thailand gets better than what we rode today.

Our original plan was to stay in Chiang Kham tonight but as we where running ahead of schedule we pushed on to for a return stay in Pha Yao.
What a fantastic time this turned out to be as we had intruded on another festival, who knows what for? but we where soon eagerly invite to enjoy by our new friends and hostesses for this night. Which ended for some of us in the Bat Man entertainment night spot

A couple of queit drinks in the Country Pub we met some local lasses who showed us around the town

We where of to the festival on the bank of the lake to release our khom fai into the night air

My last 2 photo's before returning to bed, i left the boys opening a fresh bottle of whiskey and im sure a good time had by all.
Day4: Route Hwy 120 - 1035 - 1252 - 118
Today we returned to Chiang Mai and the guys flew out this afternoon to Bangkok, we enjoyed a incredible 4 days of weather views and riding.

This loop doesn't have the large amount of hilltribe, elephants or the known tourist attractions of the Golden Triangle but it definitely has the best road surfaces and riding and the views are spectacular.
If your in it for the riding then you truly wont be disappointed riding the Nan area.
